Don't Blink

This past month Josh and I traveled to the United States to be with family as my grandpa died. During the funeral, I just kept thinking about how quickly a lifetime goes. While we were driving home the song "Don't Blink" by Kenney Chesney came on the radio. The lyrics are listed below:

Don't blink

Just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
You just might miss your babies growing like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your better half
Of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink

It just made me stop and truly think about the things that I give so much time and energy towards that won't matter at all at the end of my life. This coming month I am making a conscious effort to put my time with the Lord and my family first. The never ending "to-do" list will always be there tomorrow, but the time I have now with my family is fleeting. We are only given one lifetime and we are called to live it abundantly.
