We learned we aren't in control! There were some complications early in the pregnancy and the doctors told us that this pregnancy wasn't going to last. Yet when we went for the first ultra sound the baby had a strong heart beat. We are now thirteen weeks into the pregnancy and the doctors say this is a healthy, normal pregnancy. This was a situation that we just had to acknowledge that God was in control and we had to trust that He had our best interests in mind.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.
Isaiah 55:8
We learned to praise God in the painful moments. When we were told the baby probably wouldn't last the week, we were devastated but still acknowledge that God is good and His will is perfect. It was one of the hardest times in our lives, and we were stretched beyond belief. At the end of the day God is still good, no matter what happens.
9Then his wife said to him, "Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die!" 10But he said to her, "You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?" In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
Job 2:10
We learned that we don't need to be anxious. Now that we have another mouth to feed it made us very anxious and impatient for financial support to come in. We seemed so far away from our goal. We were about 1,200 dollars away from our goal, but as of last night we are only 570 dollars away! God has provided abundantly.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Philippians 4:6
